From Matisyahu…

Hello everyone. I am on tour this summer and I would like to bring you in on my spiritual process. I have a good friend in Jerusalem named Ephraim Rosenstein. He meditates and works as psychotherapist both in Jerusalem and long distance around the world. If you look at the credits on my records you will see him all over as a co-writer. We are starting to develop new concepts for a record in the future which will be based on Kabbalah, (Jewish Mysticism). Everyday he sends me an idea and I meditate on it, perhaps write lyrics around it, and focus on it while I am performing and praying. I would like to share them with you. I will tweet out one line a day. If you guys are feeling it, maybe I’ll post the whole piece. We’ll see how it goes. Peace.

Try to touch the simplicity in you. If today it came out too hard or forced, don’t punish yourself. Walk away without regrets, and come back tomorrow. One day you will meet.
Allow yourself to simply become aware of the thought of this day. Don’t “think” it, don’t impose it on yourself, don’t try to “understand.” Listen to it as if it was a song you knew your entire life. Feel it in your breath, in your blood, in your bones.
I don’t have a planned out route. We learn together as we go.
My hope is that every day you will feel a little more of this simple sense of being, like an old sage who feels that he wasn’t born yet. Don’t expect any major breakthroughs or amazing revelations. Only simple thoughts, feelings, sensations. And an almost imperceptible sense of waking up, in presence of a simple, laughing God.

Ephraim Rosenstein meditates and practices psychotherapy in Jerusalem and occasionally in New York.
